Situated on the spectacular North Cornish Coast, in a scheduled 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', surrounded by National Trust land, is the tranquil hamlet of Churchtown, famous for its beautiful Norman church of St Genny's. The churchyard has perhaps the most spectacular views of any in the land, looking out across the valley to the broad sweep of the Atlantic ocean to Lundy Island in the distance.

| Next to the church is the small group of buildings which formerly constituted the small, stone built, Victorian village school. | ||
|
The school itself, already domestic in scale, has been sensitively converted into 3 charming stone cottages, whilst the head teacher's house remains pretty much as it was designed. The architectural integrity of this fascinating Victorian building remains intact but has been decorated and furnished in a light, modern style with predominately slate flagged or varnished wooden floors strewn with rugs. Three of the properties share the same magnificent view as the churchyard - across the fields to the cliffs and the sea. The fourth, Lane's has a charming rural view towards the headland and the hamlet. All the cottages have their own private garden, are centrally heated and have open fireplaces.
They each also have a dishwasher, electric stove, refrigerator, microwave and TV with DVD player.

Crackington Haven, which has a pub, cafes and shops where you can hire surf gear, is a short walk away, across the headland and down the coast path to the beach. Along the path the other way you will discover secluded beaches where you will find total solitude. This stretch of coast has some of the finest surfing in Cornwall but is less crowded than the other surf hotspots (less chance of someone dropping in on your wave)! The coastal scenery here is at its most dramatic yet easily accessible and with a little study of the map it is easy to organize a circular route taking in some of the magnificent inland valleys. Other places nearby are Bude, Boscastle, Tintagel and Padstow. From here there are also many places of interest to visit such as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. | ||
